The Otters responded on an Anthony Luciani marker at 17:23 to narrow the deficit to 5-2 while both teams played with four men aside. Then, less than a minute later, Spits defenceman Marc Cantin scored the game's final goal at 18:13 to give the Spits a 6-2 victory and a 1-0 lead in the best of seven Western Conference Quarterfinal series.
